About Deanna
Mobile lessons available — Deanna is happy to come to your pool anywhere in East County.

Hi! I'm Deanna Birch, and I'm passionate about helping swimmers of all ages become confident, comfortable, and safe in the water. My lessons heavily focus on water safety, giving swimmers the skills and confidence they need to respond safely and appropriately in and around the water. I offer mobile lessons and am happy to come to you, in addition to lessons at my own pool.
I am YMCA-certified as a swim instructor and also hold a specialized certification in teaching individuals with autism to swim. I believe every swimmer learns differently, so I take the time to create a patient, supportive, and individualized learning environment where students can feel comfortable and successful.
I also keep my CPR, Health & Safety certifications up to date through AmeriMed, because safety is my top priority both during lessons and around the water.
Water safety is the foundation of every lesson. Along with developing swimming skills and proper technique, students learn important safety skills while building confidence and independence in the water.
I also love creating a sense of community among my students and their families. Once a year, I host a fun swim party where all of my students and their families are invited to come together, enjoy pizza, swim, and spend time getting to know one another. It's a special tradition and a fun way to celebrate all the progress my swimmers have made throughout the year.
Whether your child is a first-time swimmer, working on foundational water-safety skills, improving their technique, or needs a more individualized approach to learning, my goal is to make lessons fun, encouraging, and purposeful.
Adult swimmers are welcome! I'm confident working with adults who want to improve their stroke technique, form, breathing, body position, and overall swimming efficiency. Whether you're new to swimming, looking to become a more efficient swimmer, feel more comfortable in the water, or improve your strokes, I can help you reach your goals.
I'm passionate about helping swimmers become safer, more confident, and more capable in and around the water—and I love watching each student grow at their own pace!
